Are Baby Boomers that much different from other cruise passengers? According to many cruise line executives this one group of guests has probably created more changes in cruise ship programming than any other travelers since Noah’s Ark. The same group that made cell phones, BMW’s and flat screen TV’s a cultural phenomena is having a strong impact of how cruise lines go to market.

At a recent industry conference sponsored by Cruise Lines International Association, Marketing Chairman Dan Hanrahan (who is also president of Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises) pointed out that the lifestyle and interests of baby boomers has led to some unique new experiences on board for all passengers.

Cruise is a relaxing word. You imagine deck chairs, ocean breezes - and no responsibilities. The word lets your thoughts drift at sea - unless you’re my husband.

John feels confined on ships, he feels confined in the tuxedo he’s expected to wear to formal dinners on board and he can’t be conned into feeling fine about it.

When in doubt - or you can’t get your way - compromise. We compromised by sailing on a small ship - eighty passengers, casual dress and one seating for meals with a set menu.

While today you can see Egypt by air or by road, there is really no better way to see it than by boat! Nile river cruises are the hands-down best way to see this beautiful ancient land. When you board a ship that will sail up the Nile, you will realize why many people refuse to see Egypt any other way.

You’ve taken your first (or subsequent) cruise and are planning your next cruise - but nothing new really jumps out at you. Why not consider repeating a cruise you’ve taken in the past and absolutely loved?

It’s not as crazy as it might seem and to be honest, we’ve actually taken the same cruise three times!
You already know the ins and outs of the cruse ship, you are familiar with the ports you’ll be visiting, and you know from your previous visits to those ports which excursions (if any) to take. Don’t feel like taking the same excursions – don’t!

Great for all kinds of people, Hawaiian cruises are the dream come true for many - so what is it about these vacations?

What’s So Special About Cruises Then

Cruises are one of the top vacations of choice for many people, for a multitude of reasons.

Being on the ocean is one of the best ways to unwind and relax, whilst also offering great opportunities to dress up and ‘go posh’ and amaze yourselves! With loads of top quality entertainment, a cuisine choice unsurpassable so close at hand and the gently lull of the waves - what’s not to relax about?

Over the years, cruises have become a more poplar way to travel. Because there are many different types of cruises, you will have to narrow down where you want to travel to first and then find a cruise line that is headed to that location. Some cruises make stops in more than one port along the way, which can give you a chance to see more areas than you would have if you were traveling by car or other mode of transportation. Many people take cruises because they don’t have to worry about driving, navigating, or finding their way out of strange towns and cities when they become lost.

When choosing a cruise, and cruise line, there are many factors to keep in mind, especially if this is your first time. Before making any selections, be sure you know how much time you have available, the general area, or region, you want to cruise, what your budget is and, if needed, have your passport ready to go. If you have not tried to get a passport since 9/11, this may be the most time-consuming part of all, and I suggest starting that now.

Think of a cruise and you’ll probably think of the open waves and enjoying the many benefits of a cruise ship while surrounded by nothing more than ocean on all sides. But a cruise does not always set sail on an ocean. Some of the best cruises the world has to offer are actually river cruises, and what they might lack in distance travelled they certainly make up for in sights to see.
